ReFox program does not start or fails ...
unfortunately, this may happen if the antivirus policy is too strict ... ;-)
FIX: define an exception for ReFox folder to exclude it from scanning
if the single fix doesn't help, use advanced method:
Some antivirus protection methods may interfere with ReFox XII, resulting in error
0xC0000005 or a similar issue.
The new ReFox XII is compressed with PECompact and includes utilities to protect it against unwanted manipulation,
such as unpacking, decompiling, or debugging
(see EAD – The Enhanced Anti-Debug Loader at
https://bitsum.com/ead.php ).
Your antivirus seems to use a technique for application behavior analysis that can be misinterpreted as a debugger,
causing a conflict with EAD and resulting in error 0xC0000005.
To fix this issue, create an exception in the antivirus software to exclude the application from behavior analysis.
SET.ReFox.exe creates a temporary file called ReFox.tmp.exe and runs it.
ReFox.tmp.exe then creates ReFox.exe,
installs it (writing ReFox data into the system registry under HKCU),
and runs ReFox.exe. Finally, ReFox.tmp.exe is deleted.
If possible, define exceptions in the antivirus to exclude the ReFox folder, SET.ReFox.exe, ReFox.tmp.exe, and ReFox.exe from scanning.
First, define an exception for SET.ReFox.exe.
To define exceptions for ReFox.tmp.exe and ReFox.exe
(if they do not initially exist),
create copies of SET.ReFox.exe named ReFox.tmp.exe and ReFox.exe.
If the antivirus has a feature called something like "Behavior Shield" or
"Advanced Threat Defense",
make sure to define exceptions for those features as well.
Note: Turning the antivirus off may not help, as some parts of it may still run in the background.
After defining all exceptions, run SET.ReFox.exe to install ReFox.
Also, some monitoring tools like ProcMon or FileMon may interfere with ReFox and block it from running.
If such a tool is in use, it must be disabled before running ReFox.
